What a great post and a great reminder of who is the face of an industry. I have also been a waitress, and though I am now the one being served instead of serving, I will never the skill and endurance it takes to work in a restaurant.
Back in the day, many of us worked in restaurants in high school! I wonder if that's the case any more. The experiences served me well for the rest of my life!
Glad this brought back memories! Thanks for your comment.
I have many of the same memories of waiting tables in high school. I learned so much about human nature doing that job - the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly.

Quite a hard job that teaches you a lot. Wini stayed with the industry all the way to a top food writer. Her memoir is remarkable.
I look forward to reading her book.

Thank you! Your support means the world to me! Cheers.
This brought back memories of my high school days as a waitress and short order cook. Thank you for some nostalgia this morning.
Thanks for reading and sharing, Denise. Many of us started in these jobs to become what we are today.

That's where you really see human nature. Thanks for reading, Kathi!
